bakefile supports PEP 723 inline script metadata, so your bakefile.py can declare its own dependencies:
Add the metadata to an existing bakefile with bakefile add-inline, or generate a new one with it from the start:

When to use it

Inline metadata suits non-Python projects without a pyproject.toml. A single file carries its own dependencies, no project setup needed. For Python projects, add bakefile to your project’s dependencies instead. Either way, a shared Bakebook’s package can be declared in the same block - see Reuse tasks across projects.

Managing dependencies

The bakefile CLI wraps uv for PEP 723 bakefiles: sync, lock, add, and pip all target the bakefile’s own environment. See the bakefile CLI.
